Wed in Denver theme: Securing America's Future. Is it a VP hint?
Mon Aug 11, 2008 at 05:35:01 PM PDT
From msnbc's First Read (http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/):
From NBC's Mark Murray and NBC/NJ's Matthew E. Berger
Monday, August 25 -- "One Nation"
Monday's headline prime-time speaker will be Michelle Obama.
Tuesday, August 26 - "Renewing America's Promise"
Sen. Hillary Clinton will be the headline prime-time speaker on Tuesday night.
Wednesday, August 27 -- "Securing America's Future"
The vice presidential acceptance speech
Thursday, August 28 - "Change You Can Believe In"
Obama's acceptance speech
Just asking: Should we read anything into Wednesday's theme about Obama's veep pick? Hmmmmm.... On a conference call announcing these themes, however, Democrats said that night would be a salute to veterans.
Can we infer from this that the VP selection will have a national security emphasis? Wes Clark's website is securingamerica.com ...
Thoughts? Speculation?
Repubs Wouldn't Know Authentic if it Slithered up their Ass
Thu May 03, 2007 at 07:26:36 PM PDT
Romney was so creepy and inauthentic. It's screamingly obvious to me and everyone I know. Yet I thought it was screamingly obvious that Bush (and Reagan for that matter) were complete phonies. Look below the jump for the fawning "Romney is so presential" comments from Powerline.com
It seems republicans are complete fools and have no bullshit detector whatsoever. Man, I should put on a nice suit, super whiten my teeth and sell them some swampland.
Can someone with the right skills please do an animation with Romney as a game show host where contestants have to guess his postition on the issues - and every answer is right.
Powerline love notes to Romney below:
Re: Ted Haggard - Caption this photo

Oh how I love a gay republican evangelical hooker & meth scandal.
Let's have some fun captioning this photo:

"Evangelicalism has no reservation about being a voice in politics," said Haggard, who is one of several Christian leaders who have the ear of President Bush. He regularly participates in the president's weekly conference call. He was at a recent White House meeting on Bush's faith-based initiative of government support for social services provided by religious groups.

Joe Lieberman: An Army of One (an image to share)

Joe Lieberman: An Army of One

When I set out to composite an image of Joe and a soldier, I realized that putting him in a US Army uniform was unfair to our courageous military.
Joe Lieberman as a royalist in the service of King George seemed more fitting.
Here's a thumbnail of the image in case I use up my image shack bandwidth limit. Click on the thumbnail to see the full size image:

Don't Believe Westly: Angelides is the Enviromentalist
Fri Jun 02, 2006 at 11:12:10 AM PDT
The Governor's race in CA has been very ugly, to be sure. Westly has spent a lot of money to make Angelides seem like an anti-enviromentalist, but this is not the case. Angelides is endorsed by the major, credible enviromental organizations in Califoria. The League of Conservation Voters is my favorite source for scorecards and recommendations:

Below the jump, I'm posting a joint, open, letter from the League of Conservation Voters, Vote the Coast and others. The upshot: Westly's allegations are baseless, including the galling charge that Angelides 'filled wetlands'.
The World is NOT Better Off Because of the Iraq War
Wed Dec 14, 2005 at 10:59:05 AM PDT
The dissembler in chief just said it again. Yes--he humbly admitted without accepting an atom of responsibility--the pre-war intelligence was wrong. Yes, there were no weapons of mass destruction, or even any active programs for developing them. But--here it comes, get ready for it... the world is Better Off Without Saddam Hussein.
He said it again and he'll go on saying it until we shut him up. A suggestion below the fold.
ACTION: SoCal Kossacks support Robert Scheer (re-instatement possible)
Sun Nov 13, 2005 at 03:15:39 PM PDT
I talked to an acquaintance who works at the LA Times today. He said that there is a chance that
Robert Scheer will be reinstated.
In case you hadn't heard, Robert Scheer, who wrote for the LA Times for over 30 years, was fired. It is widely believed that the publisher just didn't like Scheer's passionate progressive viewpoint.
He suggested that people email readersrep@latimes.com .
Please recommend so as many Southen California Kossacks will see this as possible.
I'm sure that Scheer's firing has been discussed, but I hope my conversation with an LA Times writer gives people an extra reason to write to the paper.
Suggestions for what to write below the fold.
Hardball: Mother of soldier killed in Iraq speaks out against the war.
Wed Jun 22, 2005 at 05:12:50 PM PDT
Watch the rebroadcast of Hardball tonight. Near the end of the show, about 50 minutes past the hour, there is a segment with two mothers of soldiers. The red haired mother speaks eloquently against the war and our duty to protest it.
She even mentions the Downing Street Memo. The other mother (blond), whose son was injured, gives the usual 'we have to support the troops and support our president' stuff. The redhead mom, was so beautifully calm and heartfelt. She pointed out all the ways that the Bush administration is not supporting the troops - that her son was killed doing a job he wasn't trained for, that he was in an unarmored vehicle, that soldiers even have to pay to do their own laundry.
She said much much more. You really have to watch it.
